SUBSTANCE: trapping device for elevator traction member being belt with bailers contain casing with traction member inside, two pairs of double-arm levers secured for rolling over lever axis and mounted between carrying and return runs of the elevator, stops limiting lever turn, and broken belt trapping device being rocking arm capable of rolling along axis mounted between carrying and return runs of the elevator. Each pair of double-arm levers is connected by springs. Bottom part of each pair of double-arm levers is made as a platform with a load connected by cable enveloping rods with rocking arm which, when belt is broken, turning around its axis presses belt to elevator casing. Rocking arm length is chosen such that to secure pressing of the broken band by it.

EFFECT: simplification of construction, high reliability, and high response rate of the device.
