FIELD: solid forms of waste and methods for waste treatment.
SUBSTANCE: one of proposed alternative methods for waste treatment that may be found suited, for instance, in handling detrimental (hazardous) waste includes mixing of waste component with aluminum oxide and acid phosphate component in suspension. Aluminum-to-phosphate molar ratio in suspension is higher than unity. Water can evaporate from suspension in the course of suspension mixing at temperature of about 140-200 °C. Mixed up suspension is solidified to obtain solid waste. This solid form of waste has nonaqueous aluminum phosphate with at least residual part of waste components bound therein.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness and reliability of radioactive waste burial.
