FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: method for processing solid mixed radioactive wastes includes their thermal destruction in a chemically active environment in a heated device. Thermal destruction of solid mixed radioactive wastes of organic origin is carried out in the medium of radioactive salt fusion cakes and sediments previously fluidised with high-boiling mineral acids in process of heating from 20 to 350°C in four stages, by means of sequential increase and maintenance of medium temperature in the device in the ranges from 20 to 60°C, from 100 to 150°C, from 150 to 250°C, from 250 to 350°C, under atmospheric pressure, in conditions of free access of air into the reaction zone as the product is mixed in the device, and the produced dry product is solidified.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to possibly reduce volume and weight of solid radioactive wastes to the maximum, to simplify technology and design of the equipment, to reduce toxicity and quantity of hazardous gas emissions into environment.
