METHOD OF OBTAINING PLANTING STOCK OF RED ALGAE GELIDIUM WITH RHIZOIDS (VARIANTS) Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A01G33/02 

FIELD: biotechnology and mariculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention is directed to culturing planting stock of red algae with rhizoids in industrial scale. Method comprises taking top fragments of the frond of alga and culturing them in liquid nutrient medium, the lower part of the fragments being preliminarily shaded. Cultivation is carried out over an at least 5-week period at continuous stirring and aeration, while weekly renewing nutrient medium. For cultivation, top fragments no larger than 1 mm in length are taken. In second embodiment of the method, prior to be cultured in liquid nutrient medium, top fragments are subjected to deep freezing for 10-30 min. Fragments are then thawed out at room temperature and kept in liquid nutrient medium during 1-2 weeks, whereupon living tops of branches are selected and cultured over an at least 5-week period at sporadic illumination, continuous stirring and aeration, while weekly renewing nutrient medium.

EFFECT: enabled rapid obtaining of germs from red algae with rhizoids without fixation of them on substrate in intensively stirred liquid culture for extensive, plantational, and intensive cultivation of red algae in any year period.
