FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing autograft and macrovisually determining pathological process nature and extension in removed thyroid gland tissue. Two fragments are cut out from removed intact thyroid gland tissue unaffected with the pathological process and are grafted into the space between cervical sternothyroid and sternohyoid muscles. Two tissue fragments are of volume not greater than 2 cm3 each. They are subjected to urgent cytological study. Then, the fragments are comminuted by making five longitudinal and 5 transverse incisions in each fragment and fixed in the space between cervical sternothyroid and sternohyoid muscles with two musculofascial interrupted sutures.
EFFECT: reduced frequency of postoperative hypothyroidism; improved functional and cosmetic results.
