FIELD: chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of water-soluble derivatives of cellulose, in particular, to methods for synthesis of mixed ethers of cellulose that are used in petroleum, gas, chemical and other branched of industry. Method concerns synthesis of methylcarboxymethylcellulose potassium salt that involves interaction of low-substituted methylcellulose (substitution degree by oxymethyl group is 0.1-0.4) mercerized with 35% aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide with monochloroacetic acid at temperature 58-62°C in organic liquid medium consisting of a mixture of benzene and ethanol in the following ratio of the parent components, wt.-%: methylcellulose, 2.0-3.0; 35% aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide, 10.5-11.5; monochloroacetic acid, 3.0-4.5, and benzene and ethanol (in the ratio 1:1), the balance. Invention provides preparing a polymer possessing good thickening and anti-filtration properties.
EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
