FIELD: method for preliminarily heating cell for electrolytic production of aluminum at starting it.
SUBSTANCE: method for preliminarily heating cell provided with anodes and cathodes for producing aluminum by electrolysis comprises first stage performed before electric current supply to cell. During said stage layer of electrically conducting pelletized material on base of graphite is placed between anodes and cathodes and said layer is subjected to crushing. After crushing layer of electrically conducting pelletized material extends only along part of lower surface of each anode and it is shaped as contact gaskets.
EFFECT: shortened time period for preliminarily heating cell till desired temperature, possibility for achieving more uniform temperature of cathodes in cell, less loss of heat.
