FIELD: metallurgy; aluminum electrolyzers.
SUBSTANCE: proposed electrolyzer has wall, busbar, anode and carbon-containing cathode with collector rod mounted in its slot; said rod is made from ferrous metal with copper insert in its cavity. Outer end of collector rod is connected with electric busbar; cavity in collector rod is made on side of its inner end not reaching the outer end. Cavity and copper insert may be made in form of polygon or round profile in cross section. Carbon-containing cathode unit contains 30-100 wt-% of graphite.
EFFECT: smooth distribution of cathode current reducing rate of wear of cathode; increased service life of electrolyzer.
