FIELD: processes for high-precision laser cutting of friable non-metallic materials, in particular glass, used in electronic, aircraft, glass and other branches of industry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves directing laser beam onto portion of material to be cut and simultaneously feeding hot air flow so that laser beam action zone is within hot air flow action zone and coolant flow, while material advances along processing line, with the result that coolant is in zone heated by laser beam and hot air flow, and hot air flow blows-off coolant droplets being in laser beam action path to prevent penetration of other droplets.
EFFECT: removal of coolant droplets penetrated into laser beam action zone and additional heating of material surface simultaneously with action of laser beam.
