FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal cracking of fragile nonmetallic materials, mainly, glass by laser beam. It may be used in electronic, glass and aircraft engineering, architecture and production of construction materials. Center of laser beam heating the material is located at line segment perpendicular to laser beam center displacement line crossing said segment line constricted by laser beam center and cooling zone front formed by coolant.
EFFECT: possibility to form inclined edges in large thickness glass articles.
