FIELD: gas-filled spark gaps of high mechanical and electric strength.
SUBSTANCE: proposed spark gap has enclosure assembled of metal case in the form of flanged cylindrical shell accommodating insulator in the form of hollow truncated cone with cylindrical side surface in its bottom part and two electrodes (anode and cathode). Anode is mounted on inner surface of cylindrical shell bottom and cathode, on butt-end surface of insulator smaller base. Cathode axial lead is passed through insulator. Disposed on inner side of metal case bottom part is collar joined with base of insulator bottom part. Collar is disposed on inner surface of metal case and follows its shape to form seat supporting base of insulator bottom part whose cylindrical side surface is connected to inner surface of collar bottom part through tight joint. Bottom parts of collar and metal case can be joined together for instance by argon arc welding.
EFFECT: enhanced electric and mechanical strength of spark gap and provision for its matching with load at coaxial connection due to reduced heterogeneity of electric field.
