FIELD: gas-discharge engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed gas-filled discharger that can be used for developing high-voltage devices, such as peaking or switching dischargers for X-ray apparatuses has enclosure incorporating metal case in the form of flanged cylindrical shell and insulator in the form of hollow truncated cone, two electrodes of which one is secured on inner surface of cylindrical shell bottom and other one, on butt-end surface of smaller base of insulator whose other base is joined with case flange, shield closing joint of second-electrode lead passed through insulator on end surface of its smaller base; diameters of electrode, shield, and metal-case inner surface D, D1, and D2, respectively, and electrode-to-electrode distance S are interrelated by following equations: D = (3-5)S; D2 = D1/2S≥3; D1 = (0.25-0.6)D2.
EFFECT: enhanced electric strength and operating stability of gas-filled discharger.
