FIELD: computer engineering, possible use for determining and correcting distortion of optical subsystems of video cameras and computer vision systems which use matrix image receivers.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the method, optical-electronic device is installed with possible movement along the axis for constant distance and with possible production of an image in each fixed position, in each fixed position of optical-electronic device the real coordinates of one and the same control point of produced image are measured, on basis of resulting coordinates, coefficients of radial and tangential distortion are computed, true coordinates of points of distorted image are computed on basis of real coordinates of these points and produced distortion coefficients, and distortion is corrected by moving the points to their correct positions.

EFFECT: increased precision of distortion calibration due to determining of coefficients of radial and tangential components of distortion, and due to performing calibration in automatic mode.
