FIELD: ice thawing equipment.

SUBSTANCE: startup burner unit comprises fuel burner having controllable burning output and head to facilitate combustion product discharge. The unit also has combustion chamber having the first part communicated with fuel burner in air-tight manner and enclosing the head. Combustion chamber includes the second part shaped and dimensioned to provide the second part arrangement inside snow melting receptacle or pit. Combustion chamber has a number of outlet orifices made in the second part thereof to provide combustion product discharge from fuel burner and combustion product movement into receptacle or pit. Startup burner unit also has air cooling assembly to supply cooling air to cool at least the first combustion chamber part.

EFFECT: provision of burner initiation without initial cooling water supply.
