METHOD FOR DETERMINING MANNER OF CHANGE OF THICKNESS OF BARK ON SAWN TREE SECTION DEPENDING ON ILLUMINATION AND DOMINATING WINDS Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC G01N33/46

FIELD: lumbering.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the method, on sawn circles north side marks are applied, on basis of individual radial directions, radiuses of sawn section in the bark and without the bark are measured, and bark thickness is calculated as difference of radiuses in the bark and without the bark. Then, angles are measured between northern direction and vertical axes of adjacent tree trunks and inter-center lines of adjacent tree positions are drawn on the circle. After that on basis of meteorological data, the line of daily sun ray illumination of model tree is marked. From total number of adjacent trees, those are selected, for which the lines which are inter-centric with model tree are in the zone of sun illumination line. Also, lines of action fronts of cold winds which dominate in winter are marked. From total number of dominating winter wind front lines, those are selected, for which lines which are inter-centric with model tree are in the zone of dominating winter winds front lines. After that, relative bark thickness is calculated as ratio of bark thickness values to bark radius by corresponding radial lines with detection of statistical laws of radius change in bark and without the bark, of bark thickness and relative bark thickness depending on illumination and dominating winter winds.

EFFECT: increased precision of model tree research due to taking influence of tree illumination and dominating winds into account.
