METHOD OF TREE GROWTH DEFINING BY SAW CUT DEPENDING ON TOP ILLUMINATION Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A01G23/00

FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: method of tree growth defining by saw cut depending on top illumination includes marking the northern side on sawn circles, rotating circles with lower part upwards, counting number and width of annual rings relative to the centre of annual zones. Radii of saw cut with or without bark are measured in separate radial directions before test tree cutting or on the remaining stump after tree felling and cutting. Angles between the northern direction and vertical axes of neighbour tree trunks are measured. Centre-to-centre lines of neighbour trees location are marked on the circle. Average values of initial and final angles of sun rays daily position and rotation around the test tree are marked according to meteorological watch data. Neighbour trees which have centre-to-centre lines with test tree located in illumination zone and thus shade test tree top are selected from all neighbour trees mass. Loss of tree growth depending on studied test tree top illumination is calculated according to difference of circumference radii in the beginning or in the end of test tree top illumination line and saw cut contour with or without bark.

EFFECT: increasing functional possibilities of test tree testing method by taking into account the influence of its top illumination with shading from neighbour trees.
