FIELD: wood science and wood-working industry.
SUBSTANCE: a test specimen is produced. The depth of indenter penetration into the specimen is determined in the plane of measurement under the load applied in the preset condition, and the generalized hardness number is calculated. The specimen is made in the form of a tetrahedron, whose base forms the diagonals of three adjacent faces of a trapezoidal prism, whose lateral surfaces correspond to the radial, end and tangential cuts of the wood, and the vertex of the tetrahedron is in the point of intersection of the mentioned faces. The base of the obtained tetrahedron is used as the plate of measurement of the depth of penetration, the zone of measurement is restricted by a circumference, whose center is in the point of intersection of the bisectors of the tetrahedron base, and the generalized hardness number is calculated according to the depth of penetration only in the plane of measurement.
EFFECT: reduced labor content and enhanced accuracy.
