FIELD: physics; measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for determining Young's modulus of material used for making metal products. A metallic specimen is used and hardness of the specimen and product is measured. The ratio of speeds of the spherical indenter before and after collision with the specimen and the product is determined and, based on measurement results of the specimen and product, the value of Young's modulus of the material of the product is determined using the corresponding mathematical formula.
EFFECT: reduced labour input for determining Young's modulus of material for making metal products and possibility of using the method in industrial and laboratory conditions without damaging the surface of the product.
