FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed arc-control device has main and arc-control contacts, and fixed piston. Movable arc-control contact has nozzle, insulating nozzle, and L-shaped cylindrical insulating bushing that bounds self-generation cavity in space upward over flow by means of its internal end. External surface of movable arc-control contact mounts newly introduced insulating cylinder, blowout chamber being formed between its external surface and internal cylindrical surface of bushing. Channel formed by internal cylindrical surface of insulating nozzle and external surface of bushing provides for communication between self-generation cavity and compression chamber space under piston. Mechanical design of device satisfied following equation: Vin/vfin = 0.15-0.30, where vfin is final compression volume upon execution of OFF-operation; Vin is initial compression volume; blowout chamber is bounded by internal surface of L-shaped cylindrical insulating bushing.
EFFECT: enhanced operating reliability.
