FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to a petroleum industry and intended for definition of borehole flow velocities of drill fluid (DF) and other borehole arguments. Technical result of the invention is efficiency upgrading and accuracy of measuring due to the account of adverse factors from DF or device spaces. For this purpose the method includes following stages: use of the neutron impulse generator (NIG), NIG shutdown, and acquisition of considerably not activated portion of DF on known spacing interval from NIG, and definition of the transit time indispensable for deactivated portion of DF on passing from NIG to a point of detecting. On a transit time and known spacing interval DF velocity is calculated. Then DF velocity can be used for other borehole arguments calculation - diameter or bulk of a hole and volume flow rate of DF current.

EFFECT: efficiency upgrading and accuracy of measuring of borehole arguments.
