FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: method is universal, simple and economical. It is accomplished with usage of engine control unit or a vehicle on board computer, or an exterior personal computer as a computing device. A method of defining of speed characteristics of engines at acceleration and/or slowing down of moving inertial masses by means the computing device and thereto connected a shaft position detector of a diagnosed engine is performed so that each full rotation of the shaft is registered in a specified technological mode as a signal of a certain form. The electrical signal is converted into a digital form. A time interval of each registered turn is determined. Then a serial row of time intervals of registered full turns, at least single ones, is formed, and on base of this an angle speed and angle acceleration are calculated. Before calculating the time interval of each full turn the initial form of an electrical signal is regenerated, at least partially, for example in the most informative zone, and a time interval of the full turn is determined on recurrence of the regenerated signal at that zone.
EFFECT: there achieved the highest efficiency of express engine diagnostic.
