FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: said utility invention relates to the nuclear power field, in particular, to mini fuel elements of a nuclear reactor. The mini fuel element of a nuclear reactor contains a mini fuel sphere and a multilayer protection coating consisting of low-density pyrocarbon, high-density isotropic pyrocarbon, and zirconium carbide layers, a composite layer consisting of pyrocarbon and silicon carbide and containing 20-45 weight % of the silicon phase; a silicon carbide layer, and an external layer of high-density isotropic pyrocarbon applied on the mini sphere in sequence.
EFFECT: invention allows to decrease damageability of carbide layers.
