SUBSTANCE: invention concerns a feedstuff composition on a meat and grain basis for dogs and similar pets and to a method of its preparation. The method provides crushing of meat raw materials for reception of a meat part of a composition, its heating to or is a little below temperature of meat fiber denaturation. Preparation of a grain part of a composition includes mixing together of a grain material or a mix of grain materials with water and thermal treatment in a temperature range in which it will be provided, or in essence to be provided hydration, gelatinization and a retrogradation of a grain material or a mix of grain materials and transformation of difficult carbohydrate to the simple. Preparation by source heating of carbohydrate with water that gives viscosity of fluid medium or suspension. Combining of a meat part, a grain part and fluid medium that gives viscosity, their mixing together at temperature maintenance of a total weight. Processing of components of a compounding with giving the optimum physical and chemical characteristics inherent in finished products it allows to receive more constant on quality product which has better texture, is denser and/or less sticky.
