FIELD: mechanical stress measurement.

SUBSTANCE: mechanical axial stresses in metallic structures are determined by magnetising and measuring the change in intensity of the stray magnetic field of residually magnetised spots after the change of the variable load. Metallic structure spots are magnetised at the initial value of the resulting stress; the stray magnetic field intensity value is measured by the magnetometer, one of the stress components is decreased and then restored to the initial state; the axial mechanical stresses acting in the magnetic marker area are determined by the change in the stray magnetic field intensity resulting from the decrease and restoration of the variable load value and using the calibration chart obtained earlier for the same steel grades using models.

EFFECT: increased measurement accuracy, simple method implementation, quick result processing.
