FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of measuring deformation involves local magnetisation of a measuring element and then picking up the stray magnetic field. Multidirectional local magnetisation is performed over one or more given sections of the measuring element which is made from material with piezomagnetic effect of residual magnetised state. The measuring element is then loaded and unloaded several times until achieving deformation exceeding the maximum operating deformation, after which at the given load, local magnetisation is performed over one or more given sections of the measuring element which is made from material with magnetoelastic hysteresis. The apparatus for measuring deformation has a measuring element made from ferromagnetic material and a magnetising coil, a magnetic field sensor and a measuring element. The apparatus is further fitted with clamping devices with which the measuring element is fixed, which is made composite or monolithic with sections of material possessing magnetoelastic hysteresis and piezomagnetic effect.
EFFECT: high measurement accuracy.
