SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and device for recording to an optical recording medium, for the generation of marks and pits by irradiating the recording surface of the recording medium with a radiation beam; the radiation beam for each mark to be recorded is set for at least one recording power level (Pw) sufficient for the formation of the mark, during mark period (31); and, for each pit between the marks, for at least one lower power level (P0) insufficient for the formation of a mark, during pit period (32).
EFFECT: increase of signal/noise ratio during recording.
