FIELD: physics, nuclear.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the nuclear power field, in particular, to mini fuel elements of a nuclear reactor. The mini fuel element of a nuclear reactor contains a mini fuel sphere of plutonium dioxide and a multilayer protection coating consisting of low-density pyrocarbon, high-density isotropic pyrocarbon, aluminium nitride, silicon carbide layers, and an external layer of high-density isotropic pyrocarbon applied on the mini sphere in sequence.
EFFECT: increase in the fuel burn-off depth and, therefore, the reactor service life.
