SUBSTANCE: invention relates to colour image generation systems and may be used for the development of stereoscopic computer displays and television sets. The technical effect is attained by the stereoscopic image generation system containing: a matrix display intended for the generation and alternating display of the LH and RH frames of the stereo pair using the basic colour sets ZLH and ZRH respectively, single or multiple illumination sources providing alternating illumination of the matrix display using basic colours from the sets ZLH and ZRH synchronously with the corresponding frames being displayed on the display, and a filtering device intended for separate display of the LH and RH frames of the stereo pair for different eyes of the viewer, by colour filtering.
EFFECT: generation of high-definition colour stereoscopic image without geometrical distortions, with maximum resolution and wide field of view.
