FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: after crystalline lens is extracted, IOL is implanted. IOL consists of optical part and seat structure situated in its principal plane, symmetrical with respect to principal axis and shaped as closed loop. Angular distance between fixing points of seat structure to optical part end is equal to 90 degrees. Loop tip is furnished with eyelet with its tip directed towards optical part. Ratio of optical part diameter to distance between optical centre and loop point maximum distant is 0.5 - 0.8. Optical part of implanted IOL is fixed in area of congenital coloboma aligning to coloboma centre. Optical part edge is rested against capsular sac equator, and seat structure is fixed in opposite edge.
EFFECT: enables to place IOL optical part in periphery of capsular sac; to keep visual axis for congenital coloboma; to achieve maximum possible visual function; to reduce trauma and risk of operative complications as much as possible.
