SUBSTANCE: said utility invention relates to the field of corrosion protection of underground structures, in particular, to the control of potentials of cathodic protection of underground pipeline sections. The method involves recording the cathodic polarisation curve, selecting and maintaining the selected cathodic protection potential; the cathodic protection potential is selected using the potential current logarithm gradient, the cathodic protection potential value is maintained at a level 0.03-0.06V less in modulus than the value, at which the potential current logarithm gradient changes.
EFFECT: increase in degree of gas line section protection.
