FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to radiation beam technologies of material modification, particularly to the method of modification of a surface layer of aluminium or copper, or nickel. A thermo mechanical impact to the surface of samples is performed with a powerful ion beam (PIB) of a nano second duration. The beam composed of 30%C+ and 70% H+ with energy of 300 KeV (kiloelectronvolt) and current density of 50-150 A/cm2 is directed along normal to the sample surface. Irradiation is carried out with three impulses of 50 PIB nc duration. Irradiation with PIB results in processes of re-crystallisation, over crystallisation and fragmentation, thus achieving upgraded micro hardness in the direction of a maximum pole density of created textures <111> in aluminium for 40% (from 250 MPa to 350 MPa), in copper for 17% (from 725 MPa to 875 MPa) and in nickel for 5% ( from 1477 MPa to 1551 MPa).
EFFECT: upgraded micro hardness in the direction a maximum pole density of created textures.
