FIELD: textile.
SUBSTANCE: press cloth preventing inverse water transfer can be applied in paper and board machines. The cloth includes a barrier layer of such construction, that when cloth is squeezed in the compression zone of roller press the water is forced out through the barrier layer, which prevents inverse water transfer to the paper panel by the consequent cloth expansion. Barrier layer consists of a solid material with square, tetrahedral, round or oblong cone formations with throat size at the bottom surface of cloth structure smaller than throat size at the upper surface. Each 'cone' is a kind of one-way valve which creates underpressure preventing inverse absorption of water by the paper sheet. Under pressure barrier layer structure enables water flow into the cones and out from the smaller orifices at the bottom of each cone. As soon as the cloth expands, inverse water flow is reduced due to existence of orifices with smaller throat at the bottom of each cone in the structure, and underpressure builds up at the other side of the cloth.
EFFECT: improved water retention within press cloth, prevented repeated dampening of paper sheet.
