FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to a method and a device for treatment of gaseous wastes produced by at least one electrolytic cell. Wastes are transported through at least one channel to the means of treatment, including at least one reactor designed to extract fluorine products contained in the said wastes due to reaction with alumina in a powdered form and a separating device designed to divide alumina escaping the reactor and a residual gaseous fraction; the said separating device also contains filtration units. Before treatment wastes are cooled by means of ejecting drops of a cooling liquid into the transporting channel or channels at least at one point (P), located upper in the flow against the reactor, and by means of evaporation of the said liquid.

EFFECT: invention facilitates efficient cooling of electrolytic cell wastes not interfering with operation of electrolytic cells.
