FIELD: physics; measurements.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to non-destructive diagnosis of metals and alloys. The method involves measuring the thermal electromotive force between a heated electrode and the inspected object. The thermal electromotive force is amplified and displayed, compared with the threshold value and an alternating current is passed through the contact of the heated electrode with the inspected object and the voltage across the contact of the heated electrode with the inspected object is measured. The obtained voltage is separated using a selective amplifier, detected and compared with the threshold voltage value, which is not more than 1% of the nominal value of the thermal electromotive force. A voltage value at the output of the detector less than the threshold voltage indicates availability of contact.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of non-destructive diagnosis of metals using a thermo-electrode.
