FIELD: physics; measurements.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to analytical chemistry of platinum metals. The photometric method of detecting platinum involves preparation of a solution of platinum (IV), converting it to a complex compound and measurement of the colour intensity of the complex compounds. Platinum (IV) is separated from the solution using silica gel, chemically modified mercapto- and amino- groups at 50°C. The diffuse reflection factor of the surface platinum (IV) complex is measured at 390 nm on the silica gel surface.
EFFECT: increased sensitivity of analysis of platinum and wider range of determined concentrations.
