FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: to obtain potassium trifluoride, potassium fluoride is saturated with hydrogen. The potassium containing raw materials and the fluorinating agent are mixed in stoichiometric propotions and the obtained mixture is heated in a temperature interval of 75-240°C. The fluorinating agent used is ammonium fluoride or ammonium bifluoride, or their mixture.
EFFECT: invention allows obtaining potassium trifluoride without use of toxic hydrogen fluoride.
