FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: process consists in fluorination of different-grade coals containing 5 to 25 wt % activated carbon at 700 to 1200 C. Fluorination is accomplished either with pure fluorine or with crude fluorine, in particular anodic gas formed in electrolysis of KF-HF mixture containing up to 10 wt % hydrogen fluoride. When using anodic gas, product mixture containing tetrafluoromethane, insignificant amounts of high-molecular perfluorinated hydrocarbons, and hydrogen fluoride is subjected to washing with water and then with aqueous alkali. EFFECT: optimized process parameters and reduced expenses on raw materials. 2 cl, 1 tbl, 5 ex
