FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: protective device contains constant voltage element featuring discharge/heat-dissipating characteristics in overvoltage condition and element with metal-insulator transition (MIT-element) featuring discharge characteristics in overheating condition. These elements are physically contacting and connected in parallel. Both constant voltage element and MIT-element is connected in parallel between cathode lead and anode lead of secondary battery. Such contact protective device has characteristics combining discharge/heat-dissipation characteristics of constant voltage element and discharge characteristics of MIT-element which immediately responds to heat dissipation of constant voltage element. This profitably results in the effect of excess charge prevention, as in case of excess charge the contact protective device causes discharge in terms of two factors - voltage and temperature.
EFFECT: improvement of operational safety of secondary battery under action of overvoltage and overheating.
