FIELD: mechanics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and motor vehicles and, particularly, to reduction of drag originating when a viscous fluid flows over a solid body. The said body surfaces incorporates a good few grooves directed opposite to the flow direction. The said grooves are limited on their sides by the planes or surfaces of rotation. The axes of rotation of the above surfaces in the plane formed by the point of intersection of the axis with flow-over surface and by the normal falling from the axis to the aforesaid surface and are inclined at an angle a varying from 0° to 90° relative to the surface flown around. The density of the grooves arrangement varies from 5% to 99.9% of the total body surface flown around. The groove surface represents a truncated figure of revolution with its axis located below the flown-around surface. The groove length varies from its half a height to fifty heights.
EFFECT: lower drag thanks to elimination of boundary layer separation.
