FIELD: metrology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for measuring wind and sea current direction and speed. The proposed device incorporates four acoustic transceivers are arranged at the irregular tetragon vertices, the tetragon being placed in the flow plane so that the directional pattern of each of the said transceivers comprises the other three directional patterns. Twelve time intervals during which the signals pass the acoustic routes in the flow between transceiver pairs are determined. Angle ϕ between the flow velocity direction vector and x-axis of the instrument coordinate system, sound velocity V in the medium and flow velocity vector magnitude v are calculated according the proposed expressions. Devices, in compliance with both versions, incorporate receiver amplifiers and a microprocessor. In the compliance with the first version, the device incorporates a pulse signal generator with its input connected to the time-to-code converter start inputs and a reference frequency oscillator. In compliance with the second version, the device incorporates a four-digit receiver register with its digit unit inputs connected to the said receiver amplifier outputs, and a four-digit radiator register with its input connected to one of the microprocessor inputs.
EFFECT: higher accuracy due to elimination time lags in transceiver acoustic routes.
