METHOD AND EQUIPMENT COMPLEX FOR AGEING OF COGNAC ALCOHOL Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC C12H1/22 

FIELD: technological processes; chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: tank is filled with dry oak saw timber and sealed. Saw timber is exposed to deep vacuum by means of pump, and pipeline that connects vacuum pump with sealed tank for oak saw timber is closed with valve. Valve is opened on the pipeline that connects this tank to balloon with neutral gas, for instance, argon, and saw timber is saturated with it under excessive pressure of saturation P_s = 1-3 kg/cm². After that pipeline of neutral gas supply is closed, and valve is opened on the pipeline that connects tank for oak saw timber with sealed tank that is filled with wine alcohol. This tank is tightly connected via valve to the second balloon with neutral gas. Valve of neutral gas supply is opened from balloon to tank with wine alcohol, where pressure is increased with monitoring through manometer to the value of oak saw timber impregnation pressure P_imp= 20-60 kg/cm². Preset time is maintained under pressure of impregnation, and then pressure is reduced down to atmospheric pressure through the valve. Cognac alcohol is extracted from capillaries of impregnated oak timber under effect of neutral gas pressure. For its more intense extraction after-impregnation vacuum is pulled in tank for oak saw timber, maintained for preset period of time, disconnected and connected to atmosphere by means of valve and separator. Extracted cognac alcohol is drained from tank for oak saw timber via valve for collection of cognac alcohol. After that operations of cognac alcohol ageing are repeated until intensity of extraction from oak saw timber reduces down to certain level.

EFFECT: reduction of time spent for extraction of substances from oak timber into wine alcohol.
