METHOD FOR SEALING OF SCLERA RUPTURE AND/OR WOUND, LOCATED ON EYEBALL REAR SIDE Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2337654 C1

FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: sclera rupture/wound is sutured. On rupture/wound an implant is placed, comprising of supporting element, made from carbon plastic and carbon felt. The supporting element shape is different, depending on sclera rupture/wound localisation and direction. If sclera rupture/wound is directed transversely or obliquely to the limb, the supporting element is cut in shape of triangle with rounded corners. If sclera rupture/wound is located in para-papillary zone, the supporting element is cut Y-shaped. If sclera rupture/wound is concentric to the limb, the supporting element is cut bow-shaped. The supporting element is fixed on episclera in such manner that free part is left; via this part the carbon felt is introduced and evenly spread between the supporting carbon plastic element and the sclera. Then the free part of support element is fixed.

EFFECT: reliable sealing of sclera rupture or wound, located on eyeball rear side; improvement of operative technique; preventing of eyeball shape deformation and of eye preatrophia development, owing to suitable shape of supporting element.
