FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ignition of combustible mixes using an electric spark, particularly, to the capacitive ignition systems and can be used for control and estimation of ignition system performances, comparative estimation of the igniting properties of the capacitive ignition system incorporating igniters with ignition plugs. The proposed method consists in determination of the availability of plasma-pilot-flame generated by the plug at preset distance from the ignition plug working end face in operation with ignition system and comprises a preliminary wetting of the plug spark gap with a preset amount of liquid fuel, a measurement of the plasma-pilot-flame ionisation current generated by the plug at a preset distance from the plug end face and a comparison of ionisation current parameters with the reference data. The comparison results allow judging on serviceability of the ignition system.

EFFECT: simpler test procedure, improved control over capacitive ignition system serviceability, test lower costs.
