FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to applying coating on metal item by immersion into melt. The metal item is taken through a capacity with melt at a constant speed; with a measurement facility there is determined a level of melt (h) in the capacity, duration (t) of item presence in melt, then desired value of duration of item presence in melt is specified (td). By means of control or adjustment facility and on values of h, t and td there is regulated and established the level to determine a desired value of duration of item presence in melt. The item is taken through melt strictly vertically; at that, to maintain melt in the capacity there is generated a magnetic field in the region of a guiding channel by means of inductors arranged on both sides of the item. In the device there are also foreseen means for control or regulation of melt level in the capacity depending on specified duration of item presence in melt; the said means contain a feature for measurement of melt level in the capacity and features for setting the level. Further there is the guiding channel located before the capacity and at least two inductors installed on both sides of the item in the guiding channel region for generating electromagnetic field maintaining melt in the capacity.
EFFECT: invention facilitates efficient influence on parameters of coating avoiding alternations of speed of metal item passing through melt.
