FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: current limiting device contains transformer, battery of capacitors and circuit breaker, at that transformer is made double-winding and contains power winding, magnetic conductor, control winding, at that battery of capacitors is connected parallel to power winding, and control winding is shunted through spark gap, section of magnetic conductor rods and section of magnetic conductor yokes is selected under the following condition: 10<Σ Fyoke/Frod<100, where Σ Fyoke - total section of yokes, Frod - section of rods.

EFFECT: provision of possibility to change reactive resistance of current limiting device in case of short circuit and to limit short circuit current down to the preset level.
