FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes carrying out a reaction between vinyl ether or allyl ether and an oxidiser in the presence of a water-soluble manganese complex in a water reaction medium, where the water-soluble manganese complex contains a catalyst of oxidation. The water-soluble manganese complex represents a mononuclear complex of general formula [LMnX3]Y (I) or a binuclear complex of general formula [LMn(µ-X)3MnL](Y)n (II), where Mn represents manganese, L or each L independently represents a polydentate ligand, each X independently represents a coordinating particle, each µ-X independently represents a bridge coordinating particle, Y represents a non-coordinating anion-including counter-ion, n equals 1 or 2. The reaction is carried out with the pH value in the range from 1.0 to 6.0. The molar ratio between vinyl ether or allyl ether and the oxidiser is in the range from 1:1 to 12:1. Each polydentate ligand is independently selected from acyclic compounds, containing, at least, 7 atoms in the main chain, or cyclic compounds, containing, at least, 9 atoms in a ring, with each polydentate ligand containing 3 nitrogen atoms, which are separated with, at least, two carbon atoms. The oxidiser includes hydrogen peroxide, diluted hydrogen peroxide, precursor of hydrogen peroxide or is selected from the group, consisting of organic peroxides, peracids and their combinations.

EFFECT: invention represents an alternative method of obtaining epoxyethyl or glycidyl ethers without the application of epichlorohydrin, which makes it more attractive from the ecological point of view.
