FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed floatation device comprises a floatation tank, with an inlet opening for mud, apparatus for mixing the mud, mud aeration apparatus, enabling floating minerals to emerge to the surface of the suspension so as to form surface foam, an overflow gutter for extraction of surface foam, and a lower outlet opening for extraction of relatively coarse and dense components of the mud. The device also contains at least one more floatation tank, similar to the one mentioned above, forming of a series of at least two preceding and subsequent floatation tanks. The lower outlet opening of the preceding tank is connected to the inlet opening of the next tank. At least one tank has an upper side outlet opening for extraction of a relatively fine fraction of the mud, for separation of particles by size independently from the preceding and subsequent tanks. At least one tank has an upper hollow inclined cone, fixed against the tank around a drive shaft and a lower hollow inclined cone, also fixed around a drive shaft under the upper inclined cone. Using the floatation device, the floatation method with separation of particles by size can be implemented, which involves feeding initial mud into the floatation device through the inlet opening of the first tank, feeding the relatively dense fraction of the mud through the lower outlet opening of the first tank and feeding that fraction through the inlet opening of the next tank for repeated processing, outlet of the relatively fine fraction of the mud through the side outlet opening for processing with separation of particles by size independently from the previous and next tanks.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of floatation.
