SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of playing back multimedia files from playback data set. Proposed method comprises the following stages, i.e. playback unit reads out the instructions to be executed and incorporated with the multimedia data file, multimedia data flow decoder and/or decompressor executes aforesaid instructions, aforesaid flow being stored in coded and/or compressed form in the said multimedia data file, and playback device executed instructions received to playback multimedia data flow. The proposed invention relates also to method of multimedia data file formation comprising the following stages, i.e. multimedia data flow coding and/or compression with the help of processing algorithm, determination of processing algorithm complying with the selected processing algorithm and comprising instructions to be executed by the playback unit, and formation of multimedia data file including first area for coded and/or compressed multimedia data flow and, at least, one second area for instructions to be executed.

EFFECT: high-efficiency method of playing back multimedia data flow by playback unit.
