FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to foundry. The method consists in heating a casting mold to 200 - 300°C, in applying layers of titanium and aluminium on the surface of the casting mold, in casting liquid titanium in the mold and in cooling the cast to the temperature not exceeding 300°C. The thickness of each layer of titanium and aluminium is 0.1-0.12 mm, while their total thickness is 0.2-0.8 mm. Volume ratio of titanium and aluminium in applied layers is within the range of 1:(1-3). Casting of titanium is carried out at the temperature of 1740 - 1840°C and at pressure not exceeding 1·10-1 mm of mercury column.
EFFECT: upgraded hardness of titanium crucibles and production of melt of upgraded purity.
