FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: nucleus is split vertically in two parts and divided in horizontal plane by phacoemulsifier head and phacochopper with work tool of 1.75, 2.0 or 2.25 mm. Then each nucleus part is fragmented in similar way, and obtained small fragments are phacoemulsified. Method allows performing phacoemulsification of solid nuclei with thin capsule, with no or little cortical masses, with elastic cortex.
EFFECT: reduced risk of capsular sac and ligament apparatus, spare ultrasound energy consumption, visual control of surgeon over all manipulations in the centre of chrysalis.
